The 3 Ingredients to Photography Success
The 3 Ingredients to Photography Success
Every photographer takes a slightly different road. Different goals, different subjects, a different idea of what "good" even looks like. But after teaching more than 2,800 students, we keep finding the same three things behind everyone who actually improves.
Think of it like baking a sponge cake. You need a rising agent or it comes out flat. You need a recipe, or you are throwing things in a bowl and hoping. And you need an egg to bind it together. Photography works the same way.
Here are the three parts. Each one stands on its own, but they build in order.

Part 1: Practice (the rising agent)
Everyone knows practice matters. Far fewer people know the difference between practice that compounds and practice that just fills a memory card. Part 1 is about why hours behind the lens are not the same thing as progress.

Part 2: Learning (the recipe)
Practice only compounds when you are learning as you go. Part 2 covers what to actually look for in photography education when you are an adult with a job, a family and nowhere near enough sleep.

Part 3: Community (the egg)
The ingredient almost everyone skips. Photography can be a brutal and opinionated world, and the people who keep going are almost always the ones with someone behind them. Part 3 is about why community binds the other two together.
Ready to put all three together?
Practice, learning and community are the three things Photography In Focus is built around. It is a 10 week course with live weekly check-ins, real feedback on your own photos, and a group of fellow beginners going through it alongside you. There is a new intake every Saturday.
